Parking Operations Division (POD)
Downtown Sarasota is a beautiful and unique destination. People come here to dine, shop and enjoy the many rich cultural amenities. To promote vibrancy and economic health in the downtown, the City of Sarasota has established a progressive parking management program.
Where Can I Park?
There are over 4000 public parking spaces in Downtown Sarasota, including curbside parking, parking lots and parking garages. Timed parking restriction are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am until 6:00 pm, except for city holidays.
Free parking is available throughout various streets in the downtown area. Free parking may be restricted to 2 or 3 hours, so please be aware of the posted signage.
The Parking Division is working with the Parking Advisory Committee to develop a citywide strategic parking plan. Over the past several years, the division has performed studies and worked with local leaders to identify the practices that make sense for the community. While the recent years have encountered a roller coaster ride of decision-making, the new approaches we take to properly manage the limited number of on street parking spaces, surface parking lots, and garage resources will become a valuable tool in helping our parking districts thrive.
The City of Sarasota Parking Division is responsible for oversight of the City’s parking assets and management of the parking system. Among the services that the Parking Division currently oversees they include:
Garage Operations & Maintenance Service
Off Street Surface Parking Lots
On Street Parking Spaces
Parking Enforcement of City and State Parking Ordinances
Ground Transportation/Vehicle for Hire Permits
Low Speed Vehicles
Valet Parking Permits
Employee Parking Program
Collection of Parking Fines
